Midway Geyser Basin contains presumably the hottest thermo-features of Yellowstone National park. Its main attractions are the Grand Prismatic Spring which is huge colorful hotspring, and Excelsior Geyser crater which does not erupt anymore but discharge huge amount of hotwater in nearby Firehole River. The basin has also opal Pool which is more colorful than Turquoise Pool not far from it. There is a mostly oneway boardwalk that helps navigate the area There is a large parking lot with bathrooms but due to popularity of this basin it gets fill quickly.
Midway Geyser Basin is small but spectacular. Midway hosts two of the largest thermal features of their types found anywhere in the world. Grand Prismatic is a huge hot spring and Excelsior Geyser is one of the largest geysers. Excelsior Geyser is a 200 x 300 foot crater that constantly discharges more than 4,000 gallons of water per minute into the Firehole River. Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone’s largest hot spring, is 200–330 feet in diameter and more than 121 feet deep.
