The St. Joseph Apache Mission Church is a historic church at 626 Mission Trail in Mescalero, New Mexico, United States. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The church was built upon the stone floor of a prehistoric Jornada Mogollon-culture ruin, estimated to date from 200 to 1400 A.D.
It was designed in Late Late Gothic Revival style by Philadelphia architect William C. Stanton.

  • To see such pretty stone architecture in this area is an awesome thing, reminiscent of a small cathedral. Just a tip: be mindful to to keep your mouth shut when you stare up into the rafters, as everyone naturally does; there have always been at least a few bats that roost in the ceiling beams. The mission is truly a beautiful & spiritual place.
  • This Old mission is a must-see.. definitely like stepping back in time a hundred years or longer.. I've never been there where I couldn't walk inside I don't think they ever close the doors.. the priest is buried inside..
