Westerkerk was one of the first built for Protestants in the Netherlands and remains the largest originally Protestant church in the country. Many of the current Protestant churches were originally Roman Catholic, and then were later converted during the Reformation in 1578. West Church was built from 1620 to 1631. Admire the Dutch Renaissance style and the 85 m (279 ft) tower, Westertoren, which is the tallest in Amsterdam. This church is also the site of Rembrandt's burial. Although the exact location is unknown, his remains are assumed to be along the northern wall. Located near the Anne Frank House, the church and its chiming bells were often mentioned in her diary. • A beautiful church which holds regular, free organ recitals. Very atmospheric and well worth a look inside.

  • This is situated somewhat away from tourist center, and like other churches, not super interesting, but you can go in for free. So if you happen to be in the neighborhood, do go check it out.

  • Arguably the most beautiful Protestant church in Amsterdam. Regrettably it was closed during my visit today but am determined to return and admire the interior. For now I could only admire the magnificent building only on the outside.
  • Very nice church where Rembrandt is buried along with his son. Records of which tomb he is in have been lost but his son is in 143. Very limited public hours so plan ahead and know that Google has the wrong hours. 11-14 local time only and not open Sundays
