Discover the centuries-old tradition and history of the Liechtenstein Princely family at Vaduz Castle. The official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein, the castle sits on a hillside 120 m (394 ft) above the town. The previous owners, the Counts of Werdenberg-Sargans, presumably built it as a fortress in the 12th century. The castle is closed to visitors, but you can walk from the main street of Vaduz up to the castle along the Princess Gardens. Or take a guided tour of Vaduz, learn how the castle came into the ownership of the Princely family, and hear what role Napoleon played in the country's history. I would love to give this 5 stars, however... the castle has been the primary residence of Liechtenstein's Princely Family. The castle is not open to the public as the princely family still lives in the castle. I simply can not give 5 stars to a castle, I can't experience, so 4 stars it is. I hope the House of Liechtenstein does not take this personally. However, the views are really quite beautiful, there are really nice walking trails nearby, and the castle parking was quite convenient.

A beautiful castle 🏰 that looks stunning from the town of Vaduz. Even more beautiful in person and up close. However just nice to take just photos as you can’t go onto the property. The prince actually lives there. He has a very nice home!
