Create an itinerary including Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild
Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild constructed Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild between 1905 and 1912. Each of the villa's nine lush gardens has a unique theme: Florentine, Spanish, French, exotic, a stone garden, Japanese, rose, Provençal, and a garden de Sèvres. Formed under the direction of landscape architect Achille Duchêne, the gardens form the shape of a ship, meant to be viewed from the terrace of the house. The shape was inspired by the architect's voyage on the liner Île de France. The original gardeners were dressed as sailors, wearing berets with red pom-poms. • Beautiful gardens, magical and romantic atmosphere, great antique furniture collection in a very charming and elegant villa. Take the audio guides for a better visit and watch the fountain music show in front of the villa.. Make sure you go between 10 am and 15 pm because you need around 2h to fully enjoy the place.
  • A beautiful house in beautiful grounds. The audio tour is essential to understand the contents of each room and also serves to give an insight to the glamorous life of Beatrice Rothschild. The gardens are spectacular with great views across the bay, and the musical fountains add to the early twentieth century bohemian atmosphere. If I lived locally, I'd buy a season ticket.
