Create an itinerary including Mylodon Cave Natural Monument
Stare into the jagged-toothed mouth of Mylodon Cave Natural Monument and find out if you have the courage to enter a mysterious cave. A natural monument, the 200 m (656 ft) long cave stands out not so much for its scenic beauty, but for its archeological importance. It was here that the best-preserved remains of the mylodon, a genus of giant sloth that became extinct more than 10,000 years ago, were found. Weighing in at over 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), the beast would have made for an intimidating foe. Look out for the life-size statue of the enormous ground sloth, built in memory of the discovery. • I had a great experience at the cave, but I would really suggest taking a guide. There is so much to learn about this amazing place that having someone knowledgeable really made the experience more...

  • Nice and organized place. It is better to have a guide that can explain a lite bit more about the place No more than 30 mins from the entrance until you walk the entire place. Very nice.
  • You pay 10800 pesos as a foreigner to enter this cave. There is nothing to see, it's just a large cave with a few information signs along the way and one statue. You will be in and out of the place within 20 minutes. The views from outside the cave are more interesting than the cave itself. It is way too expensive for what you get.
