This *used* to be a great place. Many pictures by reviews claiming to be current are actually from years ago I think people are adding reviews to bulk up their reviews when they have not gone...

Here is one of the best gardens in Montreal. Multiple thousands of plants in the garden. Also many kinds of themes. But if you want to be here in early May, it's not a good choice for visiting time. So many spots are still gardening and lots of paths are under construction. Even many flowers do not fully blossom at this time. Finally, the area of this garden is quite wide. You can also take yourself to eat and dining areas. The admission fee is not cheap. Drinking water dispensers can be found in many places. However, there are no snack shops or restaurants. I recommend that bring a water bottle and snacks. Mats are always good.

If you are reading the comments here in order to decide if you will visit the Montreal Botanical Gardens ... just go! Whether you are a resident or a tourist, this place is a wondrous sight to be seen. The landscape architecture of it's immense space is incredibly well designed. Every city has must see places. For Montreal, it's the old part of the city, the mountain overlooking the river and I would argue the botanical gardens. No matter what time of the spring summer or fall you go, there will always be spectacular vegetation in bloom. It's a wonderland that you could easily spend a day roaming around in. Such a feeling of peace. An oasis. A natural wonder.
