Insectarium de Montreal displays both live and dead insect collections from all around the world, from giant stick insects and furry spiders to monarch butterflies and jewel-like beetles. The largest insect museum in North America (which from a bird's perspective looks like a stylized insect), is home to nearly 250,000 specimens of living and naturalized insects. Observe busy ants picking leaves and maintaining the nest on an anthill. Learn more about arthropods, and explore shapes and colors of specimens displayed in cases and vivariums. Wander through a prairie to a pond filled with freshwater wildlife in the discovery zone. Kids will like the fun zone with games on the theme of insect habitats. • Interesting place. Amazing butterfly collection. LOTS of kids around but worth a visit if you are at the Botanical Gardens or Biodome. It's a short walk between these three.

  • A unique expérience. Well designed attraction. The butterfly exhibit is definitely the highlight. Lots of interactive activities for kids. Get the passport to minimize costs for all these museums.

  • My experience was pretty average, I thought it was rather small for the price. Aside from the butterfly vivarium, there are only like 5 displays with live insects and one (albeit large and well appointed) room with specimens There was next to nothing written on any of the displays, but then I guess that's to get you to download the companion app. I didn't do this as I didn't want to be glued to a phone for this experience, and frankly having to have a phone app tell you what something is defeats the purpose of going at all in my opinion The vivarium was absolutely beautiful, and pretty much made up for the trip. That said, I'd still like to see more information available at the exhibits. The app should be an enhancement to the experience, but you shouldn't be losing anything without it I still think young kids or families would enjoy it, but it wasn't what I was hoping for
  • I can't rave about this place enough. It is beautiful. However, I took one star because there was not much alive insects to see. Still, I recommend this place as it was informative especially for kids and adults alike who are interested. The place is clean and organized. I love how they displayed taxidermy of the insects, it was very picturesque. At the end of their exposition is a butterfly garden. There was a staff showing a stick insect to the kids and my son held it like a pro. He enjoyed this visit very much. Wonderful place!
