Landmark · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
One of the oldest Buddhist temples in the region, Changangkha Lhakhang contains intricate internal murals and a statue of Chenrizig, an 11-headed, thousand-armed expression of Avolokitesawara. Built in the 12th century, the temple boasts gold and black prayer wheels and unusually large sacred scriptures. Look for the resident astrologer on the site, who will consider your birth date against various star charts and offer a prayer flag that will benefit you specifically (sold for a nominal fee).
