Create an itinerary including Plaza de Mayo
One of the city's main squares, Plaza de Mayo has long served as a hub for protests, activism, and political activity in the capital. Originally laid out in the late 16th century, the square features palm trees, gardens, and grassy stretches, all surrounded by historical buildings. The year 1810 saw the start of the nation's revolution against Spain begin here, and you'll likely see some sort of march or rally during your visit. Do take the opportunity to inspect the white obelisk in the center, a commemoration of the country's first year of independence from Spain. Take a look at our Buenos Aires day trip planning site to schedule your visit to Plaza de Mayo and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • When strolling between Retiro and San Telmo this is a nice plaza to rest and take pictues of the Pink House, 25 de Mayo Statue and a couple of fountains with scattered pidgeons.

  • Nice place, but you do not need a lot of time to finish up this attraction. A few pictures and a small straw around the plaza.

  • Beautiful square in the middle of the city with tons of history and significant buildings surrounding. It’s beautiful and clean. Mind your surroundings and the pickpockets (everywhere in BA, actually), but it’s a very nice and peaceful area to spend a good amount of time. There are many local markets and events on the surrounding streets. You’re sure to experience the full culture and feel of Buenos Aires here.
  • Great place to see the Casa Rosada, take.some iconic photos. But be careful with your things, at all times. There is police present around the park, but still. From there you can see great architecture and take amazing photos
